Kim Barlow Hits the Road

Here's something for small town Canada to get smug about. Kim Barlow is hitting the road, but it appears she is skipping Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. According to Barlow's Myspace she is headed to the Midsummer Festival in Smithers, BC, then attending a workshop at the Vancouver Creative Music Festival before heading to Nova Scotia for two weeks of touring with Mathias Kom and their project Spring Breakup

After that
"In September I will live the romantic, impoverished artist's life in an apartment in Paris, writing songs with Mathias about failed romances, and hopefully finding inspiration drinking strong coffee from small cups on terraces while watching summer turn to fall; distancing myself from the sentiment so that it is only a bittersweet story, well-told, about someone else.So that's it - no performance dates in Vancouver (unless perhaps something comes up during the banjo teaching stint, skipping the middle of the country entirely, but lots of shows for the lucky folk on the east coast (someone record one of those shows for me!)
I'll be in Vancouver until December, looking for banjo students and new musical forays. Then back to my Yukon home which I hope I will be missing sufficiently by then, and won't mind at all that I am returning to the darkest depths of winter, even if it's 40-below and my car and cabin are frozen blocks of ice.
