Rozalind MacPhail at Wavelength's Long Weekend Music Showcase

She has worked with an impressive list of Canadian artists including Great Lake Swimmers, the Constantines, Jill Barber and many others. She was recently featured on CBC Radio 2, and is one of few artists who are played on both Radio 2 and Radio 3. Hailing originally from Toronto Island and educated in Toronto and Ottawa, she has recently taken up residence in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Rozalind is a flautist/singer-songwriter whose most recent album, Edgework, features a variety of instruments from saxophone to cello, and even a glockenspiel. Somewhat surprising considering her extensive classical training, Rozalind's sound is very modern; Edgework presents a folk and indie combination that moves between melancholic and whimsical.

She'll be in this part of the country for one night only on Sunday, October 11 before she settles into recording her new album to be released in 2010. It's a holiday on Monday so if you're in Toronto this weekend, you have really have no excuse not to check out Rozalind MacPhail at Wavelength's Thanksgiving Weekend Show. Head down to the Garrison at 1197 Dundas West and pay what you can for an evening of post turkey entertainment. Doors are at 9pm and Rozalind will be hitting the stage at 10pm.

Check out a few songs by Rozalind MacPhail, I recommend listening to Tongue n Groove and Edgework or learn more about the Wavelength Music and Arts Project.
