You Should Know: the Secretaries

Edmonton's the Secretaries played their first gig two years ago at a charity event at the West Edmonton mall. Now they've launched their first full album with support from the Brassholes. The addition of the Brassholes turns the three piece into a six piece (which includes Colleen Brown along with Amy van Keeken and Natasha Fryzuk. The sound has been described as
"Pretty rockin’ thing that might remind you a little of Heart, making out, or even just the old days, when people would lay their feelings on the line without sounding like a pampered, sulkily misunderstood, gravel-throated man-baby."
And by Will McGuirk as:
"Imagine if you will a picture of Heart providing the soundtrack for Mad Men, the TV series.... Ooooh Uh Oooh Uh Oooooooouh! Barracuda!"
Find more about the secretaries at Myspace or CBC Radio 3.

If you'd just like to hear them for yourself and decide what they sound like, I was getting there:

It's great to see the Secretaries covered here. They are awesome.

I do have one small correction - Natasha Fryzuk recently left the Secretaries. It is her on drums on the CD, though.

Thanks for the correction Jen - If she played on the CD I'll leave it for now though.
