Make Me Young CD Release and Review

There is this band that needs mentioning and well I thought I would mention them. The band that I am referring to is Make Me Young.

Make Me Young is a Toronto based band with their first album coming out this week. They will be playing a CD release party at El Mocambo in Toronto on January 28th. This is where you can purchase their self titled album for a measly 5 bucks. I have been listening to their album for a week now and can honestly say I am a fan. But don't take my word for it. Come to the show and see for yourself.

Their album is infused with a sick raunchy 60's vibe. To compare them to any other artist would not only be a little difficult but also not justified.

Sounds like the Pixies, Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, Velvet Underground mashed into one. Not so easy to pinpoint their exact sound, which to me is great for any original band. So I am probably way off on comparisons.

The CD starts off with a lesson in the circle of life with "Fatworms" and then progresses or decreases depending on your mood into topics of death and depression. So you know, your run of the mill uplifting music. Stuff you want to put on after you just broke up with the love of your life, or maybe you just got fired from your dream job. However, the music is very fast and upbeat that unless you are really listening to the lyrics you have no idea how depressing each song can be. Bunch of tricksters. The 12 track CD has a great sound and in my humble opinion is a breath of fresh air from the run of the mill Pop Punk that seems to be saturating the radio waves.

The band consists of Christine Stoesser, Jay Merrow, Eric Kraschewski and Patrick Greenaway.

Some come check out their CD release party January 28th and pick up your own CD. I for one can't wait to see them live. I have been warned that they are way too fun to watch. Whatever that means. Oh and maybe we can find out who Samantha is.
