Brian DeWagner

Brian DeWagner moulds the minds of young people who without his brand of help would surely never shake themselves loose of Tupac Shakur’s ghostly death grip. He works as a counselor for at-risk youth all winter long and then spends his summers working with at-risk musicians all across the country. He is a part time freelance journalist who has sat down with artists as diverse as The Funk Brothers and Jason Collett. Most recently he splits his time between Southern Ontario and Southern California and is currently working to complete a book documenting the history of Doug Weston’s infamous “Troubadour” bar in West Hollywood.

He faithfully pays his dues to the University of Michigan Alumni Association and blissfully worships at the estrogen drenched alter of his beautiful wife and daughter. He’s a sucker for a good story and a tasty fish taco. His favorite venue on planet earth is St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit and if he had just one song to nurse him into perpetual sleep it would be Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You Could Read My Mind.” He’d also begrudgingly accept “Patio Lanterns” by Kim Mitchell but only if his death was really abrupt and tragic and if there was no one at the funeral but people he didn’t really like very much when he was alive. He can be reached for complaints, ideas and all purpose compliments or donations at brian@ofmiceandmusic.com.
