The Wooden Sky add Ottawa date (Jan 24) w/ Jill Zmud

A short while ago, Justin posted info on the Wooden Sky's latest tour, which will take the band from one end of this country to another (and ending up at the Olympics in Vancouver). One notable gap has now been filled, as the band has been booked to play the latest show in the Acoustic Waves series of concerts in Ottawa.

Acoustic Waves is programmed by the Ottawa Folk Festival, which hosts events year-round in addition to the amazing summer festival. This will be a great chance to see a wonderful band on the rise (and a NxEW spotlight artist) in a great venue: the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre, home of the Great Canadian Theatre Company. Indeed, the Wooden Sky's latest release, If I Don’t Come Home, You’ll Know I’m Gone, has received critical praise from many quarters.

And there's more - Ottawa music fans who have their ears tuned to the excellent local singer-songwriter scene have no doubt heard of Jill Zmud. Jill recently launched her first full length CD, as we quietly drive by, a pretty and intricate selection of songs with gorgeous guitar, insightful lyrics, and excellent production. Lynn Saxberg from the Ottawa Citizen gave the record 4 stars, and named Jill as an artist to watch in 2010 (having had her on my radio show, I agree!).

This is great double bill of Canadian music - tickets are available at the GCTC Box Office, or call 613-236-5196. The show is on January 24th at 8:00 p.m.
