Coming up in London (Ontario that is)

In addition to being an amazing band our friends in Olenka and the Autumn Lovers run the Open House Arts Collective and put on music (and other arts) shows in and around London, Ontario. One of them even contributes to the site, but she is ill at the moment (no, not with that). But I got an email about upcoming shows that they are happy about a little while ago and thought I should share:

If you're in, or around London these are the places to be (according to the experts).

Le Cyc Art, Bike, Opera Touring Ontario and Quebec (Starting Tomorrow in Toronto)

Le Cyk will be playing at the Music Gallery tomorrow night. If you don't know what Le Cyk is Exclaim says it's "An interactive coupling of indie-rock and graphic art, Le Cyc, is an earnest, theatrical production, exploring social imbalances from a unique perspective"

In a longer version it's a coupling of 400 hand painted images by visual artist David Willekes which are meant to "artistically portray the emotive struggles of individuals who stand up against totalitarianism" and composer Eihab Boraie who constructed the score to Le Cyc on an ornate but out-of-tune piano. Both of these elements are brought together live (albeit with in-Tune instruments) in the shows, though there is apparently a limited edition DVD slated for the spring.

The show is running at the Music Gallery (197 John Street) in Toronto All Ages. Doors 8pm, Show 9pm Sharptomorrow night (Friday, Sept. 18) and
Kingston, ON The Artel 10/16/09 9:00pm
