Woodhands named X3 Artist of the Month

I hate to do another Woodhands post only moments after Jen posted their Pitchfork dis but they are NxEW's Spotlight Artist this week so maybe it's ok. It turns out that in addition to being out spotlight aritst (and more good reviews than I can link to in a timely fashion - just Google it) Woodhands are also the X3 Artist of the month. The X3 artist is chosen by consensus between CBC Radio 3, Exclaim and Aux.tv. The Aux.tv feature is here:
"Proving themselves worthy time and time again on the stage, Woodhands signed with Paper Bag Records and began preparing tracks for their debut Heart Attack. The album featured rock style electronic music with ferocious live drumming Banwatt said isn’t very common in other electronic acts. “Electronic music composers are the ones programming beats but they’re often not drummers,” Banwatt told Eye Weekly. “I’ve always tried to rid myself of what I’m supposed to be doing.” The band’s dislike for using laptops and pre-programmed sequencing make the experience listening almost seem like a live set."

Hopefully by now you know Woodhands, this is them playing a song from their new album Remorsecapade. You should also know Maylee Todd (if you don't repeat the name several times right now so it sticks!) Maylee has an amazing voice and you're going to be hearing alot more from her (she also does the vocals on the Woodhands song Dancer!!)

Bandwidth for Dec. 12: Happy Hanukkah + Send Amanda a Jingle

Amanda Putz talks about the arrival of Hanukkah and plays some music from the Flying Bulgars and Beyond the Pale. Then there is an interview with Amanda Rheaume about her holiday fundraiser album for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ottawa and there are bits thrown in from Peaches, and Dan Werb of Woodhands. Mega-Intern Meg Wilcox and Amanda will also fill you in on all the shows that you absolutely can't miss in Ontario this week.

One more note - Amanda is looking for a sting, or a jingle. Listen to the show for details and then send yours in.

Find more Bandwidth info at cbc.ca/bandwidth and for information on shows you might have missed click on "Listen Again" on that page.
